Bert Barclay and Mark O’Mara are friends who have worked together for over three decades. They share a mutual respect for their skills in the legal arena. Bert is a Central Florida native. He is a highly experienced and respected family law and criminal defense attorney, and a well-known figure in Central Florida courtrooms, representing clients for over 35 years. Bert is admired for his legal expertise, client-focused approach, and naturally warm, empathetic manner.

Mr. Barclay was raised in a loving and closely-knit military family where he had friendships and associations with people from a wide range of cultures, races, and backgrounds. This foundation has led to a philosophy of fighting for what is just and right with his unique qualities of integrity, compassion, hard work, and tolerance. He is honored to represent clients from all walks of life and backgrounds.

Background and Education

Mr. Barclay was the valedictorian of the first graduating class of Lake Howell High School, where, along with excelling in academics, he also earned varsity letters in baseball and football.

The Journey to Legal Excellence

Mr. Barclay began his legal career at the Office of the Public Defender in the Orange and Osceola Counties misdemeanor division. He was quickly promoted to the Felony Trial Division. There, he represented clients in a wide range of criminal matters, ranging from misdemeanors and criminal traffic cases to first-degree murder charges, giving him deep insight into the inner workings of the legal processes in the criminal court system.

In 1987, Mr. Barclay entered private practice, where he focused his legal talents on divorce and family law and defended those charged with criminal offenses in state court. He brings experience, exceptional legal skills, and a dedication to superior client service to every case he represents at O’Mara Law Group in Orlando.

Family and Marital Law

Mr. Barclay has extensive experience handling family law and divorce matters that involve alcohol and drug addictions. He is sensitive to the financial and emotional challenges of divorce and other family law matters. He offers a compassionate approach to pursuing an outcome in the best interests of the client and their children. A talented trial attorney, Mr. Barclay is always well-prepared and persuasive in court.

Criminal Defense

When defending those accused of criminal offenses, Mr. Barclay has a work ethic that is exemplified in his approach of working long hours to identify any and all options that can be implemented when pursuing the most favorable outcome for his clients.

On a Personal Note…

Mr. Barclay has been married to his wife, a marriage and family counselor, for 26 years and has two children they raised in Central Florida. Mr. Barclay is a member of the University Carillon Methodist Church.
