Personal Background

Cathleen Winter focuses her practice in family law, including areas concerning divorce, alimony, child support, child visitation, modification proceedings, paternity, Prenuptial Agreements, and Postnuptial Agreements.

Cathleen graduated cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Florida in May 2010. Thereafter, she gained extensive experience as a family law paralegal for three years prior to attending the University of Florida Levin College of Law to pursue a law degree.

While at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Cathleen obtained certification from the Florida Board of Bar Examiners to become a Certified Legal Intern with the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Clinic, where she represented clients in domestic violence matters. Cathleen was also a Certified Legal Intern and an Advanced Certified Legal Intern with the Family Advocacy Clinic, where she represented clients in family law mediations, hearings, and trial. Cathleen also obtained experience as a legal extern in issues relating to child support enforcement while working with General Magistrate Samuel Stafford in the Family Law Division of the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court in Gainesville, Florida.

Cathleen graduated cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in May 2016, and earned a Certificate in Family Law and her Juris Doctor Degree. While at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Ms. Winter also received a Book Award for Family Law Policy and a Book Award for the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Clinic.

Cathleen is a member of the Florida Bar, the Orange County Bar Association, and the Central Florida Family Law Inn of Court. She is also the current President of the Greater Orlando Asian American Bar Association, and is a Founding Member of the American Academy for Certified Financial Litigators (AACFL) Orlando Chapter.

Cathleen was recognized by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys for exceptional and outstanding client service and was listed as the 10 Best Attorneys in Florida in 2018. Cathleen was also selected to the Super Lawyers Florida Rising Stars list in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers for more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

In addition to the above, Cathleen also received a 2021, 2022, and 2023 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch recognition for her work in Family Law and was also recently listed as one of Orlando Family Magazine’s Awesome Attorneys in Family Law for 2021. The Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch is a recognition for attorneys for outstanding professional excellence in private practice in the United States. Awesome Attorneys is an annual list of leading lawyers in the Greater Orlando area chosen by peers and Orlando Family Magazine readers. In 2021, Super Lawyers also selected Cathleen as a Top Rated Family Law Attorney.

Cathleen is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and is a proud Asian American. In her spare time, she enjoys time with her family, interior decorating, baking, and traveling.
